About Us

Find out more about the people who make up David Reed Associates.

David Wookey – Director

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 with Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young).  He moved into industry, firstly with a local construction company and then on to Buro Happold, based in Bath. David joined as their first full-time accountant, was later appointed as Finance Director and also became a Partner in the business in 2000. In his first years at Buro Happold, he completed his MBA at the Bristol Business School. David left Buro Happold in early 2012 to return to the accounting profession with David Reed Associates. He brings many years of senior financial experience with him, which he can now pass on to our clients.

David is married with two children of school age, both of whom are heavily involved in sport. His weekend job is one that many will recognise – as unpaid taxi driver, ferrying the children to various sporting events. He loves it really. He is also a lifetime supporter of both Bristol Rovers and Gloucestershire cricket, though we try not to hold this against him!

Claire Swain – Director

Claire is a Chartered Tax Adviser with over 20 years’ experience. Claire started her training at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Bristol before moving onto the David Naish Partnership in Bath where she qualified.  In 2010 Claire started her own Accountancy practice based in Bristol before joining David Reed Associates as a director in April 2013 and relocating her practice to Bradford on Avon.

Having worked predominantly in providing tax advice to owner managed businesses in the last 15 years, Claire also specialises in Inheritance tax planning, holding an Advanced Certificate in Will Planning with CT Law.

Away from work Claire can either be found relaxing with a glass of Rioja in sunny Corsham, at the gym working it off, or supporting her two boys at Corsham Rugby or Corsham Cricket depending upon the season. Claire is also currently the Treasurer of Corsham RFC.

David Reed

David has over 40 years’ experience in the tax world: the first 15 of these as an Inspector of Taxes. The gamekeeper turned poacher in 1987, joining an international firm as the regional tax partner. He co-founded a local firm based in Bath in 1989 before setting up his own practice in Bradford on Avon in 1999.

David has extensive experience on advising companies and individuals on all aspects of tax planning and has particular expertise in advising income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning.

Away from work David claims to support the “finest football team the world has ever seen”. We point out this is not really appropriate to Swindon Town but David insists it is only a matter of time. He also spends an inordinate amount of time on his model railway layout, which is likely to end up as a representation of Swindon and its environs, as well as “searching for the lost chord” on his guitars.

Kim Reed

Kim joined David Reed in 1999 and qualified as an Accounting and Taxation Technician in subsequent years.  She now has many years of experience and has been assisting in all aspects of accountancy, tax, payroll and VAT compliance work over that time.

Kim ‘s main responsibility involves controlling the compliance work within David Reed Associates, which includes preparation of Accounts, Company and Personal Tax Returns.

Away from work, Kim enjoys going for long walks and exploring the countryside with her sister and their two dogs.  She is also an avid Formula 1 fan, loves music and often goes to live music events.

Becky Rossiter

Becky has worked in Accountancy in the Bath area since Sept 2005 having completed her A Levels earlier that year.

Throughout Becky’s time working in Accountancy firms she has gained a wide range of experience in all areas of Accountancy and Taxation and specialises in personal tax, business tax, VAT returns and payroll.

Becky has a crucial role to play in assisting the Managers and Directors in day-to-day tasks.

Outside of work, Becky enjoys taking her dog for walks, cooking and watching films.

Becky Reed

Becky Reed is a qualified Accounting Technician having successfully completed her exams in March 2014.  In addition, Becky also holds the AAT qualification in payroll, which was obtained in her previous role with the Ministry of Defence in Bath where she worked within the payroll department.

Becky’s role within BRW Associates is a key one for us, involving primarily accounts preparation, completion & filing of VAT returns and managing payroll for clients.

Away from work Becky enjoys walking her two border collies – Shadow and Spice – and discovering new walks in the countryside with them.

She has three horses, although only rides one of these as the other two are retired.  Becky is a keen Formula 1 fan and enjoys attending the British grand prix at Silverstone.
